Voice Rest

Voice rest after voice surgery

After surgery, patients may be advised to take complete voice rest for 1 to 14 days. For benign and small lesions, voice rest after microsurgery is on average 3-7 days, depending on the surgeon's preference. Voice use is gradually increased under the supervision of the clinician. Some patients, such as professional voice users and those with large lesions, may take 30-60 days to return to unrestricted voice use (performing, giving concerts, etc.). Post-operative care is tailored to each individual patient based on the type and location of the lesion, the degree of tissue defect, the patient's preoperative voice use and needs, and the clinician's experience.
